Let's first understand what does LISS and HIIT really mean. LISS is low intensity steady state cardio such as (walking/biking/elliptical/etc. that can be done for long periods of time. HIIT is high intensity interval training i.e. (short bursts of intense sprinting/biking/swimming/etc & usually last between 10-60sec per set).

Now, many LEGENDS will say that HIIT is the best & others say LISS is the best. But really they both work very well & in fact they are more fun when combined together in routine.

LISS is great because it's very low intensity so you can do it anywhere, anytime, irrespective of your training experience. You don't real need a warm up. You won't get sweaty. It can just be walk for 30-40mins, but then doing that is also better than just sitting your ass on couch not to ignore the overall health benefits that LISS offer. Although LISS takes longer than HIIT, it can still help you in burning equal amount of calories and that to without the need of putting unnecessary stress on your body.

HIIT is my personal choice because it's *very* quick & efficient hence takes shorter time and can be done on days I am in a hurry and helps me when I am leaning down. Now here be careful do not overdo it, more than 2 session a week of HIIT will effect recovery and progress. Even professional athletes do not do more than 2-3 HIIT sessions a week then why should you???

CONCLUSION

HIIT is like more of a workout. You get sweaty & your muscles burn & you breathe heavy & people often equate *hard* with *effective* but that is a massive mistake. Harder does NOT mean better. Better is better. And, usually, 1-2 HIIT sessions + 3-5 LISS sessions per week yields the best results.
