A Dish of rice and  chicken grevy with onion

INGREDIENTS:

  • Chicken  Boneless: 200gm
  • Onion:  100gm
  • Boiled, Pureed & Sieved Tomatoes:  200gm
  • Greek Yogurt:  50gm
  • One Cube of Cheese ( If you don’t want  to use cheese, you can use 2  tbsp butter)
  • Low fat evaporated milk:  100gm  ( Since its evaporated milk, calorie and fat content is too low in this , so you can use normal fresh milk  instead of evaporated milk)  OR you can use 100 gms of fresh cream but the overall calorie intake will be high as it has high fat content.
  • Garlic:  2  Cloves
  • Garlic Powder:  1 Tsp
  • Garam Masala:  ¼  Tsp
  • Paprika:  1 Tsp
  • Turmeric Powder:  1 Tsp
  • Crushed Red Chilli Powder  OR  Hot Pepper:  ½ Tsp
  • Water:  100 Gm
  • Salt to Taste
  • Few Coriander Leaves  for Garnish

PREPARATIONS:

  •  Wash chicken properly and dice into medium size pieces.
  • Add a pinch of salt and season chicken pieces with little garam masala.  Add greek yogurt in it and mix well. Let this mixture sit for an hour.
  • Separately, chop onion into thin slices and take 2 cloves of garlic and dice into fine pieces
  • Take a pan.  Heat it and grease with a dash of oil. Add the marinated  chicken in the pan and saute it properly for a minute from one side. Then flip the pieces and saute from other side as well till golden brown. Once it’s done, keep aside.
  • In the same pan, put little oil and add sliced onions into it and sauté for 2 mins on medium heat. Put garam masala+ garlic powder+ paprika +  turmeric powder+ Crushed Red Chilli Powder  OR  Hot Pepper. Sauté all the spices well for a minute.
  • In above pan, add pureed  and sieved tomatoes  (  Homemade:  its whole tomatoes which you boil for some time, peel off the skin and once its cooled down, grind  it into puree and sieve it which is ready to use)  OR you can use readymade Sieved Tomato Passata which is  commonly available  and known as Canned Crushed Tomatoes.  Stir this puree well for some time in the pan.  Then add water to it and let it simmer for 5 mins on medium heat.
  • Add butter or cheese in the above puree, sauté it.  Then, add 100 gms of Low fat evaporated milk in the puree OR you can add fresh milk  OR fresh cream as mentioned above.  Stir the whole mixture well till the gravy turns little orange in colour.
  • Finally, add above saute chicken pieces into the gravy and let it cook in the pan. Simmer the whole mixture for 15 mins till gravy gets little creamier and thicker in consistency. Once it’s finally cooked, pour into a serving bowl and garnish this healthy and amazing Butter Chicken with a dash of coriander leaves.  You can serve it with Plain steamed Rice  OR any Paratha of your choice.  Enjoy this meal.
