Moong Dal Uttapa

  • Yellow Moong Dal: 65gms
  • Ginger and green chilli: Little ginger+one small green chilli (optional)
  • Bell pepper( Green/ Yellow/ Red): Any bell pepper as per taste
  • Shredded Carrot: One small piece (Optional)
  • Onion: One small onion
  • Coriander Leaves: 2 TSP
  • Salt + Red chilli powder: As per taste
  • Oil: 1 TBSP
PREPARATION
  • Soak Moong Dal overnight in a bowl in water.
  • Morning, strain dal and throw away the whole water and grind dal in grinder along with ginger and green chilli. Then add little water while grinding. Grind into semi thick paste and keep it aside in a bowl.
  • Chop bell pepper and onion into fine pieces. Keep it aside.
  • Grate one small carrot and keep aside.
  • Chop coriander leaves into fine pieces and keep aside.
  • Mix all vegetables in a bowl along with grinded dal.
  • Add salt, red chilli powder as per taste to above mixture.
  • Once the mixture is ready and if it is too thick to spread on tava, you can add little water and then stir well .It should be thick flowing batter.
  • Heat the tava, grease with oil, spread the batter like Uttapa and put little oil on it. Cook from both the sides till it turns reddish brown and little crisp.
  • Serve it hot and enjoy your delicious meal. You can also serve Uttapa with green chutney for taste.(optional)

Note: Above Uttapa to be served for Lunch/ Dinner.

If Uttapa is served for Dinner, then you can soak dal in morning instead of night and strain dal in the evening only and then follow the same cooking method as given above.
